The respectful ceremony was attended by dignitaries, mountaineers, and admirers, all paying tribute to the legendary figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Government of Nepal, along with the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), honored Sherpa&#8217;s contributions by draping both the National Flag of Nepal and the NMA Flag over his body. Honorable Kul Man Ghising, Minister for Energy, and Mr. Hari Prasad Mainali, Secretary of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministry jointly placed the national flag over Sherpa\u2019s remains, while NMA President Fur Gelje Sherpa laid the association\u2019s flag in a heartfelt tribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the mourners were government officials, including Honorable Minister for Energy, Kul Man Ghising, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hari Prasad Mainali, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board, Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, and representatives from various tourism-related organizations, including NMA Senior Vice President Mr. Iswari Paudel, 1st Vice President Mr. Mingma Gyabu Sherpa, General Secretary Mr. Rajendra Bahadur Lama, and Treasurer Ms. Sumi Lama. Renowned climbers, media representatives, and a diverse group of the Nepali public also gathered to offer their final respects to a man whose legacy is forever etched in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kanchha Sherpa played a crucial role in the 1953 expedition, which saw Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reach the summit of the world\u2019s highest peak for the first time. He passed away peacefully at his home in Kapan last Thursday, marking the end of an era for Nepal\u2019s mountaineering legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sherpa\u2019s contribution to Everest\u2019s history and his deep connection with the mountain will remain a lasting part of the country\u2019s heritage.
